Angola suffers from the legacy of colonization and decades of civil wars, which have left behind many displaced people and destroyed infrastructure. In contrast with increasing revenues from natural resources, most of the population lives in devastating poverty. Since 2006, People in Need has been working in the most war-affected province of Bié. PIN focuses its programs primarily on the development of Education sector as a cornerstone of human development and on the Agricultural sector, being a source of livelihood for majority of Angolans. PIN activities involve ameliorating the situation in water and sanitation as well as waste management sectors, always associated with awareness education.
