Burma is ruled by one of the most repressive regimes in the world. It is a country ruled for over 40 years by a military junta, where more than 2,100 political prisoners suffer behind bars, with the longest civil conflict and the only Nobel Peace Prize laureate in the world lives under house arrest. Few people know what life in Burma is really like. Help us change this.

Organise screenings of the film Burma VJ for your friends and discuss the situation in Burma with them!

If you are interested we will send you a free DVD with the documentary film Burma VJ – impressively compiled documentary that won the Václav Havel Special Award at the One World Human Rights Film Festival. On this website, you will find a wealth of information on Burma so that you can hold a discussion after the film. It will then be up to you to invite your friends, screen the film and discuss with them the situation in Burma. You can also ask them to join the Club of Friends, thanks to which People in Need helps families of political prisoners, local reporters and small NGOs inside Burma.

We look forward to your responses to the screening!
