People in Need (PIN) is announcing a call for the position of Hiking Trail Coordinator to work on the new Legends Trail connecting Goris and Kapan Community clusters within the framework of “EU4Tourism: Outdoor adventures on the historic trails in Syunik” project.

BRIEF PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project aims to:
- Develop and promote alternative eco-friendly tourism in Syunik region
- Enable rural communities to benefit sustainably from tourism
- Revive local traditions and legends
- Empower civil society and promote cooperation between civil society organizations and local authorities

RATIONALE OF HIRING HIKING TRAIL COORDINATOR

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT AND SCOPE OF WORK
S/he will be responsible for:
- selection of the final trail design in a few not yet finalised segments of the already scouted/ marked/ mapped area (Goris area: ≈100km, Kapan area: ≈110km);
- identification (with the support of the project team) and coordination of a team of field workers and volunteers working on the trail;
- update of the provided schedule of directional signage at all appropriate junctions, including specifications per current Armenian governmental standards;
- This schedule to include: exact decimal coordinates, destination names in Armenian and English, distance to destinations, hiking time to destinations, and compass bearing orientations of signboard arrows
- installation of the signage at various junctions in Goris area;
- identification of necessary service providers
- coordination and supervision of all related field work
- complete and improve the quality of blazing and signpost installation in both Goris and Kapan parts of the trail in order to ensure the highest possible standards as well as unified quality of both segments of the trail;
- ensure all identified safety & accessibility shortcomings are addressed;
- collaborate with PIN’s mapmaker to address any questions related to the collected data;
- provide technical trailmaking expertise and support to project staff and volunteers;
- maintain, inventory and purchase tools, materials and supplies needed for crews and volunteers to complete trail projects while following PIN procurement procedures.
- maintain a collaborative relationship with project staff, partners, lead volunteers, and subcontractors to ensure the smooth operation of crews and trail projects.

PEOPLE IN NEED ARMENIA WILL
- Provide scouting reports, GPX coordinates of the trail and expert assessments;
- Cover the workrelated expenses (transportation, material for blazing as well as printing and installation of directional signs);
- Provide contacts and coordination support with relevant regional stakeholders (trained support workers, volunteers, community leaders, etc.);
- Support with all tasks as agreed.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SERVICE PROVIDER
- Proven experience with trail design and layout, estimating time, materials, and costs, including the successful ontime and on-budget completion of trail projects;
- Experience with outdoor leadership – ability to work with and motivate a wide variety of volunteer, field staff, contractors, recreational users, and other stakeholders to accomplish trail projects;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining effective communications with the rest of the team;
- Skills in safe use, operation, and maintenance of hand tools, brush cutters, and other mechanical equipment;
- Familiar with computers, Excel spreadsheets and MS Word;
- Ability to educate trail crews and volunteers and effectively instruct others in trail work techniques, practices and standards, tool use, safety, and teamwork;
- Ability to take responsibility for maintaining safety standards.

EVALUATION CRITERIA
- Suggested price amount for the service with justification (reasonably low bid)
- Compliance of implementation schedule with the timeperiod specified in the ToR (4 months)
- Experience in performing similar tasks backed up with relevant references
